Scabbed mole on scalp... Skin cancer??

Earlier on today I was leaning on my hand when I felt what felt like a scab on the back of my scalp. I just looked at it looks like a small mole (maybe 5mm across) that was scabbed. It is a dark brown colour.

Im really worried that this is skin cancer. Could it be possible that its just a scab? I dont seem to remember scratching myself or anything.

Im going to go to my GP walk in clinic tomorrow morning, but just wanted a bit of reassurance in the mean time.

lpwp I have had moles pop up and scab up. I actually went to the derm about a reddish, pink one that was peeling. One derm took a picture and measured it and I still worried. The other derm took a look and said it was nothing. I asked him to take it off and he did. I am now waiting the biopsy results back. If it is bothering you go get it checked out and taken off.

I went to the GP this morning and he had a look, he confirmed it was a mole that was a bit rough feeling. He has referred me to the skin specialists to have a better look and do a biopsy.

He wanted to do the referral as a non urgent appointment, and said it would take 4-6 weeks. He could then see that I was anxious and so said that he would put it through as urgent so that I get seen within 2 weeks. He said that he was putting it through as urgent to lessen my anxiety rather than because he thought it was urgent.

I asked if he thought it was bad. He said he didn't think it was melanoma, rather an irregular nevus, but it's better to make sure.

Do you think this sounds positive? I've been terrified all day and am now expecting the worst. I'm only 21 and am a medical student (crazy I know!) and so it's not ideal for me to be so distracted and anxious!!

Possibility that it is a scab! I had a very itchy back a few weeks ago, always constantly itchy then one morning I noticed I had a mole that was scabby.. I was petrified! Went straight to the derm and he said that it was because I kept itching my back and caught the mole several times (it is a benign raised mole) so I thought phew! You should be OK but at least this way it will definitely lessen the anxirty. I understand how you feel! I am constantly fearful of my moles
