Hi, new here, I have been claiming DLA for over 10 years as i have agoraphobia. I get the lower component for mobility. When I first started claiming, I was home bound as it was quite bad. By the last medical assessment which was a few years ago, I had stated I was able to go out with someone I knew. Family member etc.
Since that medical, I would like to think I have improved a lot. Although only 5-10 minute walk away, I am able to take my eldest child to school, socialise a little (something else i couldn't do before) and come back home. I attend playgroup with my youngest (5 minute walk away) travel to family members houses (10-15 minute walking radius from my home) , I have also started a learning course at our local nursery. I have had various interactions with this nursery for almost 7 years where my eldest went nursery there, playgroup is there also. So I am familiar with the people there etc and not far from home.
Anyway, I have been doing some over thinking and am wondering should I have updated DLA of these improvements?
I can go to these local familiar places on my own now where as before I wouldn't be able to, but I wouldn't be able to go down a busy high Street etc. on my own or to somewhere i hadnt been before. So although I have improved, agoraphobia is still there, so not sure if I need to tell DLA or is it not a big enough change?
Hoping someone can help.

Make an appointment with your local Citizens Advice Bureaux. I think the whole point of the 'Mobility' side of the benefit, is to help get you 'mobile', to help for a taxi, if you can't face waiting at a bus stop and get on a crowded bus. You're not cured as you say it's still there.

My husband is on the higher rate Mobility DLA, because of his heart condition, he claimed for it after his last heart attack, he's had four. When he was given the all-clear to return to work, he phoned the DLA and told them he was returning to work, so didn't need DLA, their reply was 'oh right, so your heart has totally recovered or you've had a transplant???' he replied 'no, but I am on a lot of medication to help with my condition', they said 'you don't have to come off DLA because you're going back to work, the benefit you're on is longterm, possibly for life'.

So try not to over think things until you get the facts, otherwise you'll get scared about going out.
