Dent in breast, went to see my GYN today, back and I'm so nervous!

So I went today for my yearly well woman check up and I showed her the dent in my breast (its on my right breast, about 2 inch line going down the side when I raise my arm, its not a stretch mark at least not that I can tell) anyway she did an exam and wants me to go for a diagnostic mammogram. This is what she said:

"I don't think its anything, skin changes, could be a stretch mark forming, but I don't mess around with breast stuff. There have been times I felt something and it was nothing and times I felt nothing and it was something." She didn't feel anything, thank goodness! She said "those machines are better than humans"


I'm a wreck and I keep finding myself in tears! Can anyone reassure me or shed some light. I'm scared!!! I'm 31 btw and have had 2 kids.

I would be reassured by her saying "I don't think it is anything" It is good that she is getting you checked out though.

I would also take reassurance in her gut instinct , she's just covering her own back , if she didn't she wouldn't be a good dr. When is your mammogram ? X

I had a similar comment from a dr at a women's health check 4 years ago - she found area during the breast exam that she thought were cystic, she was right and I had them aspirated a couple of weeks later :hugs:

She is just being very thorough - a good doctor.

A doctor will never say 'well, I don't think it is anything' if they thought that there was a strong possibility it WAS something.....no way! (despite what she said about the somethings and nothings)

Thank you everyone, its going to be an emotional evening for me, I cannot keep the tears from flooding. :(

My mammogram is tomorrow at 2:00 and they said if they see something I'll have an ultrasound at 2:30. So I'll know tomorrow, which is good. This is just awful! I'm having my Mom come with me since my husband cannot get off of work tomorrow.

Think how happy your going to be tomorrow when you get the all clear , please let us know WHEN that happens , you'll be fine just wait and see xx
