Hey guys,

Do you ever feel almost ill when your anxiety is playing up?

For the past couple of days (and with every experience of anxiety), I have been feeling constantly jittery, weak and tired, and having trouble taking regular, 'unmonitored' breathes. My chest always feels tight in the centre, and I am constantly anxious and with a pounding heartbeat that I can feel in my chest and throat - even if my pulse is not very fast at all.

It makes me generally feel unwell and takes a lot of my energy and comfort away.

Does anyone else feel the same when they're anxious? How can you beat this or manage it better?

I worry that I will never feel better and be anxious and skittish forever.

Many thanks, and hope you're all doing well.

Hey Scarlet Speedster,

Yes when I'm in an anxiety state I feel like this too. It's really annoying, but one thing that helps is just learning to try to tune it out as an inevitable consequence of feeling anxious. It's part of trying to break out of the feedback loop that is anxiety.

Here's a list of what I do to try to beat the symptoms when they come:

Shivers - raise my body temperature and get moving, go for a walk if it's convenient/have a hot shower

Sick feeling - have a hot non-caffeinated drink

Lump in throat - remember that it's anxiety, I don't really have a fix for this one!

Breathing fast - slow breathing down, in for a count of 4 out for a count of 8

No appetite - small but regular meals

Good luck! x
