Then I've read on Internet you aren't supposed to and now I'm terrified it'll seep through and come back. We've had it for ages now to the point where I'm convinced I'm getting allergy symptoms because of it. We've tried getting rid of it and used a mould killer so I assumed it was dead and we just couldn't clean it because it was on a porous surface but now I'm questioning that.
It's a mould resistant paint but I've read that doesn't matter.
The mould is partly my fault too as I have a spider phobia so windows were never open (although I've had to change that now as our extractor fan is broken). I'm scared we could get wrong off the housing association. I did ring them about it and was sent a letter about reducing condensation but they didn't seem overly concerned. I've also read if it's black mould (it was black, but not sure if it was 'The' black mould) you have to be careful cleaning it as the spores can go into the air and cause symptoms.

hi KeeKee
We had the same mould problem in our bathroom, high up on the wall just under the ceiling. There isn't a window in there so have to rely on an extractor fan, comes on when the light is switched on.

The bathroom was decorated with blown vinyl, as the walls are awful, so it could be painted.

Tried the mould killer, rubbish, so used diluted bleach, it came off. To stop it coming back, I used normal white under coat, Then painted over it with a specialist bathroom paint. that was 8 months ago and it hasn't come back.

The problem with mould is that it penotrates the plaster, that's why it comes back in the same place. So either normal white under-coat or you can buy a stain block, that you paint on and get your housing association to fix your fan!!!

Hope this helps

Thankfully they are coming out to fix the fan on Wednesday. They were supposed to be coming out 2 and a half weeks ago but my partner had to work and I get too anxious sitting alone in the house with workmen so I rearranged.
Wish I'd thought of diluted bleach, I assumed the killer had that in as it stinks. Do you think I should use another coat or wait until it comes through this coat and try to kill it properly? We also had in bathroom too we do have a bathroom fan and a window but in the Winter it was impossible to use either while in the bath as it was too cold so we ended up with mould mainly after the Winter. We too used a specialist bathroom paint and it never came back. Wish I'd just waited and tried something else first I was just sick of worrying about it.

Wait and see what happens with it.
Try not to worry about. There are ways of getting rid of it and stopping it, it's just trial and error.

At least you're getting your fan get fixed now

Landlords often paint over mould. Our bathroom was pretty much black and they just came and painted right over it. You would not like our house...
