anyone put my mind at ease?

I've been having pain in my ribs and now my upper back and shoulder. My gp sent me for chest xray to rule out a lung prob. I smoke so I am now completely convinced of lung cancer. Is this really likely aged 30? I've got a ten day wait now and I'm absolutely terrified and convinced.... I feel mucus in my throat and just feel unwell

It's unlikely that it's cancer but the obvious must be asked...

If you fear cancer, then why are you smoking?

do you have back problems? a herniated disc can cause a lot of discomfort, i should know, i have 2 .the pain radietes along the nerv so it might be that.your gp is right to rule out somethings, but i can assure you cancer (of all sorts) isn't silent, you would have a bunch of other symptoms.waiting is the hard part, i know, but you need to take it day by day.all the best

Sounds more like muscle pain or something else less terminal than lung cancer and at 30..I highly doubt it. Hope you feel better soon.
