Yes mine do and I think most women's do .
We naturally have one breast bigger than the other and it's normal for one to feel slightly different .

Check them once a month and learn and you will learn to know what feels right .
Don't worry mine feel very different and mine can vary depending on the time of the month .

But how do I know if its right.before I start checking ? How do I no if this is right for me at the mo?

What your describing sounds normal okay first off ,
Have you not checked them before ?
I am presuming you know what they normally feel like ?

If that's a yes .... Then it's any changes .

If you are worried and think there is a Change then maybe if you have a partner asking them if they can feel a change ( sorty just presuming they have felt them before ) .

If you not sure on what they should feel like or how to properly check them then I suggest maybe going to see a nurse maybe at your Drs and asking them to examine you and show you how to check properly and what to look for .
Then from that point you will know how they normally feel .

Truly your worrying in my opinion over nothing ,
Sorry if that's not much help but that's what I do and would do .

boobs are lumpy - it's a fact. A worrying lump is a hard one, like a pea. If you're concerned, ask the practice nurse to show you how to do a self-examination and to check you out

Did they not check both Beckie? Seems strange...I think Believe is irritated as you are still posting for reassurance for literally the most unlikely health symptoms. Do you feel any better on the meds? How are they going? Honestly - no two boobs are alike and only a hard or painful lump would be of concern and you are very young but you probably know this x

Beckie4567
17-03-16, 18:55
She's just saying I never mentioned it and I did in my very first post.yeah she checked both but focus was on the other.i don't feel a lump it just feels like hard muscle really .i dunno :( can I ask how its the most unlikely health symptom ??? I'm on week 3 and half of meds still no relief in hoping they kick in soon I really do

They will Beckie but they take time...it's unlikely because you are so young...same with all of your other tests and things, they always come back clear because you are worrying over stuff that is extremely unlikely...statistically I mean...the worry is the problem but hopefully when these meds kick in it will leave you in a state of calm and you won't be worried as much x

There is a sticky post at the top of this page telling you how to self examine your breasts. You could read it.

Went to the docs said they both feel symmetrical from a doctors point of view so what the bloody hell am I feeling then I'm not going mad?? One is lumpier than the other I said its mainly wen I'm upright and arm above my head she said feel them lying down then? Surely that's not the attitude ?

You are actually recommended to feel/do self checks lying down because it is more accurate. Mine always checks me lying down.

Yes, I have them on both sides. I have pressed on them so much they bruise and get sore.

Mine seem more prominent on the right side that's why I'm concerned

How are you today? I have similar worries about a 'dent' nobody seems to see except myself. I have been to two different docs and they both checked my breasts throughly. I think I will push to be transferred to the breast clinic though - I can't carry on like this, I'm a mess.

My sister had breast cancer (she is a survivor, btw). She never checked her breasts. I remember her saying to me, before her diagnosis, that she thought the hard "lump" she was feeling (which was later breast cancer) was part of her rib. Meaning, she didn't even recognize it as a lump, but thought it was bone. Just adding some perspective in how a breast cancer can feel.

I had a spin about breast cancer too and one doctor told me a good rule of thumb is that a "normal" lump feels similar to the tip of your nose and a "bad" lump feels like the side of your chin.

I am positive you're ok but I relate to your fears.

Please if you are worried and find a lump or if you are not sure, please get it checked I know someone who has found out she has got breast cancer, caught it very very early stage one, but she needs treatment. It might be embarrassing for someone else to examine your breasts, sooner found more likely it will be cured.

did this post trigger anyones anxiety as it did in mine? i know she meant to calm down the original poster, however as someone with severe ocd and anxiety, hearing that she thought a lump was a rib gets me extremely nervous. i am very skinny and can feel all ribs in my breast. some of them are really pertruding ribs and i can feel all. i dont need the thought to be now, that hey, maybe this is cancer? for g-dness sake, what will i do when i feel ribs? how do i differentiate btw ribs and lumps?

^^ THIS!!

Also, I remember a long time ago in high school someone came to talk to the girls in our class about breast self-exam and what to feel for. She had these models that we practiced on, some of which contained lumps so we knew what we were feeling for. I wish every OB office had them and trained people each time we went in for our annual exams!!

Sort of like these but they were silicone: http://www.breastologybag.com/index.php

I was diagnosed with fibrocystic breast disorder when I was around 19, I found a big lump in my breast that was beginning to protrude. During a scan there were three lumps instead of the one, all of them pushing on the one I could feel. I had a surgery to remove them and they came back as benign.

I'm now 30 and I have one lump that I couldn't feel that was detected in a sonogram. Biopsied, benign. One tiny one that could just about be felt again but couldn't be detected on scans, the surgeon was reluctant to get it out but I was adamant as it felt different from the rest and I didn't like that it couldn't be biopsied because no one could find it on the scans. I convinced her that if she took it out and just felt around it could be done, on top of that I would have the surgery wide awake so I could just leave after the op and not take up bed space at the hospital.

It was done, they said the lump was benign. Having an operation while awake was a new experience for me as well as the surgeons, I got to tell them about what I was feeling as they were doing it. Very strange, glad I was awake as the equipment said my vitals were going and I told them I was fine when they were having a panicy moment. Dunno what they would have done if I was put asleep during!

I have very lumpy breasts because of this condition. There's also another lump I got that comes and goes near my armpit when I'm coming up to my period. Whenever I get a new lump back to the GP I go.

Last night though it feels like my left nipple is burning (not pregnant or breast feeding) so I'm scared about that right now. Anyone ever get that?

I hope my story about lumpy breasts helps calm you all down though :) some women are really prone to getting lumps, still scares the crap out of me every time I find one even though it's been going on since I was 19. I have scar tissue from operations in the past from lumps being taken out.

Get your lumps checked by the docs though when you get new one's. Peace of mind and all that!
