Things I'm currently experiencing that are making me worried: memory loss, having trouble finding the right words, mixing up words, on and off headache at my left temple. I think I am going to ask my doc to send me for brain scans and blood tests. I can't stop thinking about dementia or alzeimers, maybe vascular dementia ( reduced blood flow to the brain ) I think my hippocampus might be shrinked. Does anyone else mix up words, have a bad memory and forget words? has this gone any for anyone over the years as they have lessened their anxiety? I know anxiety can play a role in cognitive abilities but I can't help but worry about all of this. I am young at 20 years old

I have anxiety and social anxiety and sometimes when I am anxious to speak, I forget things and I stumble/mix my words that it's so embarrassing. I link it to anxiety because whenever this happens my heart rate goes up and I begin sweating. I don't think you have anything to worry about! Anxiety is linked to cognitive abilities, like you know yourself. :)

Thanks for the reply Girl18! I'm feeling a little bit more calm today.. still will probably go to my doc to ask for tests just to be safe but definitely calmer today.

Check out post #6 from me on this one about something that happened to me not long ago and you will see how my attention/memory was on a bad day:

There are more out there that I have seen.

I think I have explained in some of them about Serotonin.

Oh, and the person in some of those threads worrying about dementia, like you, recently told me she has had a better spell and her memory has returned fine. Degenerative memory illnesses don't work like that.
