Hi,

I just wanted to pick anyone's brain about Sertraline 50mg and trying for a baby.

I have recently been prescribed this, and my husband and I have been trying for a baby for 3 months now. Is this safe to continue and also is it safe ifI was lucky enough to fall pregnant?

Thanks and I hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Hi Nat,
In short, it's best not to take sertraline when you're having a baby, however the medical professionals do take into account the mother's wellbeing and you will decide together the risks to the baby vs your mental health.
I've been on sertraline 100mg for years and am at a point where myself and husband want to start trying for a baby so have done some research. I went to my GP and she drew me up a withdrawel plan.
On mumsnet there are a few mums there who took sertraline while pregnant and their babies are fine.
Best course of action will be a)not to panic it's not a case of you absolutely should not take this drug
b) see your GP who will advice you on alternatives
Best wishes
