For the last few weeks I have been hearing my heartbeat just like I have a listening device on listening to it. lub dub lub dub.I know many of you hear you heartbeat muffled but not just like its on a listening device. Even for me its weird. Also I can feel the pumping of my heart up and down my spine laying down or standing and hear my heartbeat while walking around. I have been tested for everything over and over and checked and there is nothing suppose to be wrong with me but this is new. Its totally not like I have had before. I haven't been to the doctor in seven months but like I said there is nothing suppose to be wrong with me. If you can identify with this please please please let me know . It is just so different from what I have heard all my life. I do have a head cold and ears are stopped up but what would that have to do with the pumping feeling in my spine? Please help.

It could be because your body is fighting the virus and this can result in your system working harder, including your heart so resulting in being more aware of it. Try to think that your heart is just doing its job, and when your cold eases off and your ears unblock, all will back to normal....well normal for us anxies that is :D

ISB, thanks , I think you are right , besides after a week or so of this if it was something serious then I suppose I would have already gotten seriously ill. Its just this is so different than anything I have ever experienced which doesn't exactly make it not anxiety , but just checking to see if others have experienced this... just very strange but suppose you are right. Well lets say hope so. .Thanks again.

No problem, you'll still worry about it because that's what we do, but try not to worry too much, it does sound normal. My main phobia in the past was my heart so know where you're coming from.

Aah, I've just read your other thread about your lifelong tachycardia, benign but uncomfortable yes? I also take beta blockers but not for tachycardia, for heart flutters. Have they never suggested cauterising the rogue nerve that can result in this? Or is it not because of that? A friend of mine back in the 90s had this procedure done and he never had the problem afterwards.

I have a heart beat in the back of my head that makes my head shake slightly and I like shudder from my shoulders.

I was just talking to my wife describing what I am feeling and she said that the sciatic nerve can do this.. as you get old the sciatic nerve shifts causing pain and weird sensations all the way down the spine.. But it just feels like a pumping feeling but maybe its nothing. ISB and Josh also thanks for chiming in.. I guess we get all kinds of feelings.

No, no one has ever suggested anything like that and I have seen a lot of specialist and doctors that really didn't even give it a second thought. Last time I was in the hospital for dehydration and tachy .. the doctors and a senior nurse said to me if it happens again just come back to see us. He said, don't worry the heart can beat fast a long time without any danger but we rather it didn't.. There suggestion to me was get exercise and make my heart beat fast. I take beta blockers and two other blood pressure meds.. not that my blood pressure is that high but it is suppose to guard against tachy I think..I am not even sure but when I was in the hospital my blood pressure was a little high and they could not figure out why ,but they had taken me off two of the meds and they put me back on them and it went down, so I guess I need them for some reason.. Anyway , my heart still beats fast sometimes but I am terrified about tachy . I guess I just have to let go .. or something. Thanks again for your help.. I really do appreciate it .
