this is just a quick question as i'm curious, Sudden death syndrome is that prevented by having ECG's etc? as i used to misunderstand it , i thought it literally meant you call die at anytime in some cases but i read that its down to undiagnosed conditions?

As far as I am aware it's usually undiagnosed conditions. Therfore I would think that if you have had checks etc it would have normally been picked up. It can also be genetic abnormalities that have not been diagnosed...

Some conditions can be found by tests such as ECGs, ultrasound of the heart, etc. People at risk from some heart-related conditions can have defibrillators fitted in the same way as a pacemaker.

Hi

We have Brugada Syndrome in our family.

This is one of the "sudden death" diseases.

You can get an ECG for free without your GP's help from the CRY organisation (Cardiac Risk in the Young).

I think you have to be between 14 and 35.

This can help put your mind at ease.

Hope that helps xx
