View Full Version : Constipation pains. Or cancer pains?

I've been constipated for the past few days. And I'm getting pain in the lower abdomen, prostate and rectum. Is it normal to have pain in all of these areas when constipated?

I'm looking to start doing screening for colon cancer because of my GI problems the past year or so. I had a bout of c. difficile in June/July because of a post-surgery antibiotic.

Waiting for blood tests that checks for diabetes, vitamin b levels and hemochromatosis (runs in family). With my recent GI problems and my beau's lines on my fingernails, I'm really scared I have a serious disease.

I keep thinking at any second I'll drop dead or have a near fatal incident. Meanwhile all the doctors I've seen don't seem to take any of my symptoms serious so the referrals I get take forever to finally go through. I have no idea when I'll finally be able to see a GI specialist.

I had a surgery last year to remove a lymph node in my parotid gland. It was a cancer scare, but the pathology found only a bartonella infection. A simple bartonella infection shouldn't cause a cancer scare and a surgery. There had to have been an underlying physical ailment that would let such a mild infection cause such a severe reaction. So it's frustrating that doctors don't get more aggressive with my issues.

I just responded to one of your other threads yesterday. Sorry to hear that you are going through a worrisome phase. I wish you the best of health.

I have constipation issues myself sometimes - especially during pregnancy. It can definitely cause all sorts of pain. Perhaps you have IBS? If so, that's easily manageable through diet and exercise.

Btw, the key here is to realize that health professionals are not taking you seriously. That's for a reason. There is nothing "seriously" wrong with you! In fact I would say you are perfectly fine! Just drink lots of fluids and get lots of fiber in your diet to help you be more regular and keep constipation at bay.

I get the sense that the only reason why they aren't worried is because of my age (28) and because I'm not showing any severe near-death symptoms. If I were over 50 years old presenting with the symptoms that I have and have had the past year, they would be jumping to get my colon and prostate checked. Or at the least trying to see if I have some sort of autoimmune problem.

It is not normal to get a lymph node surgically removed because of a bartonella infection. It is not normal to get a C. Difficile infection because of an antibiotic. It is not normal for me to normally get about 5 canker sores a year to getting nearly 30 in 2015, some of them causing little scars in my mouth. It is not normal for someone to go from 20/20 vision to not being able to adequately read past the 5th line on an eye exam. It is not normal to have random bouts of knee pain that lasts a week and causing me to limp when there's no actual physical reason such as overexertion and exercise to explain it. These are things that happen to people who are much older or who have an underlying ailment. And considering how I am now presenting with beau's lines on my fingernails, this is nearly 100% validation of there being something wrong.

I really think something terrible needs to happen to me first before they get the hint that I need to be aggressively tested. Unfortunate... But I feel like I'm counting my days until that happens.

Drinking more water will be a great help. It could help your digestive system to process the food that we eat. We can take this Digestic by Mimonis also as a great reliever for constipation. It does a great result in taking out the constipation of all my friends and I that is why we are trusting in it.

Thanks for the advice :)

I've been trying to drink a lot more water and I think it might be helping.

But to add to my earlier rant...

My blood test results just came back. They told me that everything is fine, but when I actually looked at it, my eGFR (kidney function) was 80.55. The eGFR range for stage 2 chronic kidney disease is 60-90.

But because I'm 28, I must be fine in their eyes. I also have an 80 mcg/dL iron level. Which is right at the cut off line for deficient for an adult male. Low iron levels can result in beau's lines on finger nails.

The people that I'm seeing aren't following any of my symptoms and they're all taking me for a hypochondriac.

My abdominal pains and IBS have been affecting me for nearly TWO WEEKS now and I just noticed black spots in my stool today. I have a history with a C. Difficile infection. The fact that they're not jumping to get this solved once they hear I'm having abdominal issues again is very frustrating.
