So i've done posts before about this severe ear pain i get only at night time, it's been ruining my sleep, i've described it perfectly to the doctors, who faffed me off saying it was chilblains. Clearly it's not so i have lost faith in them.

Went again today and after describing the pain to her and that this has been happening on and off for nearly a year now, she says she thinks i have something called Costochondritis. I say ok, not knowing what that is, she said there's not much you can do for it really, try a memory foam pillow.

I get home and check what it is, ARE THEY CRAZY? Costochondritis is a disorder in the ribs symptoms are chest pains ect, Where the heck has she got this from, i have none of the symptoms of costochondritis.

This problem is really affecting my sleep, and my mental health driving me nuts with worry and they are just making things up. Not sure what to do :weep:

I would ask to see a ENT specialist.

Are you 100% certain this is what she said? There is a condition of the ear cartilage called auriclar chronditis that is exact same as costochondritis just its the ear rather than the rib.
In both cases there is no sinister reasons for the inflammation but it is very painful.
Could you phone your surgery and ask what has been put on your records - if its as you suspect costochondritis then you need to go back and ask why when this only affects the ribs and could she have meant auriclar chronditis.
I would not normally say this but have a google of auriclar chronditis and hopefully this will reassure you that its not sinister.

I'm positive that's what she said as she said it a few times, maybe she mistakenly said it instead of what you have mentioned, i hope anyway, i will have a look at that.
As it's been happening for so long and doesn't seem to be getting any better i would have thought they would suggest seeing an ENT or having further tests, obviously it should be a good sign that they don't seem worried at all but because of one doctor saying chilblains and another saying a wrong condition my anxious mind is saying "They don't know what they're on about" lol

I understand. if you have the auricular one then there isn't much ent can do about it. Why don't you go back to Dr and discuss all this further .

You can ask to see your medical records but you will need to be there as they can show you the screen.

Sounds like she may have got her names mixed up, a mistake but a bad one to make with an anxious patient!
