A normal or negative d dimer test is 95% certain that no clot is in your body. there is no test that is 100% which is why they also take into account all other symptoms together with a d dimer test. If your d dimer is elevated then this does not mean 100% that you have a clot but it does mean that further testing is needed,

So if you have had the blood test and it was normal and you have been examined and any other symptoms taken into account then its probably 99% certain you do not have a blood clot.

I know what you are going to do now you are going to latch onto the vague possiblity of the !% being you!

If you had a blood clot that had not been detected by all of the above then your symptoms will get much worse, there will be swelling of the leg and red/shiny look and the leg will be so painful you can't walk. If your pain has not improved in a few days or if you develop more symptoms then its sensible to get another medical opinion but it all sounds as if you almost certanly do not have a dvt.

Have you undergone an ultrasound? Has it been mentioned?
