It all started February 14th, 2016. I am an on and off marijuana enthusiast and i have been chewing tobacco for a few years. I was doing both of these things and playing videogames in my apartment when suddenly the world fell out beneath me.

My sense of balance was gone and i felt like i was falling out of my chair though i was sitting upright. It suddenly dawned on me that i wasnt breathing so i stood up and inhaled very deeply. My heart started pounding HARD. Like it was replaced by a hammer in my chest. THUD THUD THUD i could see my chest heave with each beat. I checked my pulse and it was 155. High, but not fibrillation levels (which is above like 200 or so i believe).
Walking around for about fifteen minutes i started feeling better but i was left with this vague pressure like being bloated from too much food but just above my stomache, a little too high to be just my stomache i thought.

Fast forward a couple days. I attributed my episode to being caused by just a few too many substances that night and decided to take a week off of smoking and chewing to clear my head up. I'm at the movie theatre when it happens again WOOSH equilibrium gone, heart pounding, very dizzy, weird feeling under sternum.

I agree to let my gf take me to the ER and get tested just in case since its been twice now. The Doc takes Electrocardiogram and comes back and says i need to be tested for Brugada.

I googled Brugada.

I freak out for a week until i can get tested for this life-threatening condition. Dizzy every day now, palpitations and pounding heart every night. Chest pains and pressure under my sternum and around my lower ribs and sometimes center of my chest. I can no longer concentrate i can no longer enjoy my favorite activities. I feel like im short of breath after very little exertion, pain moving up my chest now sometimes under my pecs, sometimes the center of my shoulder blades, sometimes the center of my chest, sometimes my left arm.

Im convinced at this point im having multiple heart attacks. I go to the ER and blood comes back fine, ECG is normal but heart rate is high.

Finally the brugada test happens, and its all clear.

Echocardiogram gets performed and they find a tiny hole in between two of my chambers, say its pretty common and not an issue unless its much larger than mine (like 600% larger) and the doctors let me go.

You would think that would be the end of it but its not.

Every day now for the past 3 months, im dizzy whenever im on my feet for more than a couple hours. Walking up stairs leaves me breathless and more dizzy. I show all the classic symptoms of heart attack minus the nausea and the pain is usually very low, not at all what the internet tells me.

Everything ive read tells me i could be having a heart attack or heart failure and every time i start feeling okay or back to normal i have a night full of chest pains and pounding heart and tingling all over my body. My skin on my face and neck are always on fire and hot to the touch. My ears get hot, sometimes just one sometimes both.

I just want to feel like i did February 13th before all this happened. What do i do?

TL;DR
-palpitations esp at night

-chest pains, sometimes for 30 minutes sometimes less

-pressure sensation below sternum above stomache

-shortness of breath after very little exertion

-dizzy all day every day like im losing my balance even when sitting. Its a weird dizzy feeling like im falling forward or backward but im not. I can balance on one foot for like ten minutes and feel dizzy the whole time but i dont lose my balance at all

-normal ecg, normal blood work, normal echo right when this started (but now im concerned that maybe ive had a heart attack since then and maybe NOW ive got damage to my heart that wasnt there before)

-went to ER a few weeks ago during a bad episode of this, blood OK and ecg OK

-Thyroid checked, also ok

-blood sugar checked, ok

-iron checked, found to be slightly anemic but not concerning enough to take meds

I am afraid im dying and have never once in my life had anxiety issues or panic attacks at all.

Breathing exercises do nothing, trying to relax does nothing. Oddly, the only thing that helps my dizziness is walking around but then i start feeling breathless and the palpitations come on stronger.

What should i do? Ive already seen a heart specialist and hes convinced im fine. Logically, i defer to him because hes got a lot more experience than i do, but that doesnt help me with my symptoms.

Help

It sounds to me like these are panic attacks and you have had the all clear on your results so you need to go to a doctor and get something for the anxiety attacks and panic. Do yourself a favor and stay away from weed. I got what's called Derealization from anxiety and panic attacks which I feel like is one of the worst experiences one can have. People can get it through a number of things and weed is the number 1 way to get it because people have panic attacks while they are high and get stuck in a DP/DR state. If you are having panic attacks, touching weed ever again is a bad idea.

I had to google derealization and depersonalization and i can say with a bit of confidence i havent had any issues with those. At no point do i feel "out of body" or feel like im losing my mind or anything. My symptoms have been mostly physical except for the dizzy episodes. And i havent smoked anything since this started. Feb 14th was the last time i touched it.

My gf has been telling me to see a dr as well for anxiety and see if meds help, but ive never had any problem with this before and honestly, im not even sure it IS an anxiety/panic disorder. im generally a very calm person and nothing seems to shake me too bad. I really dont know.

Thank you for the reply, ill be phoning my insurance in the morning to see what professionals nearby are covered by my insurance. I'd prefer not to have to take meds to feel like a normal person again but if thats what it takes, thats what ill do.

Definitely, definitely don't smoke weed again. It's not harmless as you are now experiencing.

I smoked weed on and off for years (not habitually I might add) and one night a decade ago I was relaxing on the sofa watching TV with a joint and exactly the same thing happened to me.

I've never smoked it again.

Yes you may not have issues now but trust me if you are having panic attacks, it makes you more likely to get it DP/DR. Go onto the forum on this site for DP and DR and see how many people got it from weed. It's your choice, just an FYI

For anyone reading this thread with the same list of symptoms:

I recently stumbled upon a list of symptoms for Vitamin Deficiency Anemia and ALL of the symptoms on the list i had experienced. EVERY SINGLE ONE.

I have rheumatoid arthritis and one of the complication is folate deficiency, which can cause some weird vitamin deficiencies and talked to my rheumatologist who recommended folic acid.

I started taking a multivitamin and a folic acid supplement every morning and within 4 days my symptoms are GONE. I still get the occassional palpitation episode but now they last 3 or 4 minutes not HOURS. I get a little tingly-headed on occassion when really tired still and dizzy from time to time but the difference is NIGHT and DAY.

Entire story summarized:

sudden onset of panic attacks, palpitations, skipped beats, dizziness, pounding heart, chest pain after smoking marijuana one night (not out of the ordinary for me) turned out to all be caused by a combination of vitamin deficiencies and my overreactions.

Ive been improving for almost three weeks now.

Stay strong
