Chances are that anxiety is making your heart beat faster but 101 is within the norm.

Agree with JP. Once you know your heartbeat is a bit fast although still within normal range then it stays there because of the anxiety and awareness of it. Try and do something that totally absorbs you and stops you being aware of your heartbeat and it will slow down.
