Hi Phil. It could be absolutely anything. Best bet is to go and see your GP and they can give you a proper examination.

You don't say how old you are, or what sort of work you do, or when in your back the pain is, but backache is so common that I'm sure your doctor has seen the self same thing hundreds of times.

Where is the pain, lower back? Is it worse when you wake up or does it wake you up? Does it ease off when you get up and start moving around?

It eases of if I move around it's the middle part feels like a pressure point where I've been lying on the mattress. It eases off without about 30 mins after getting up..only feel the pain when I wake up or during the night about 2am or through out the hours when the pain keeps on waking me up..

If you press that area when it's not hurting is it painful?

Tried to press my back couldn't feel any pain so seems to be more an issue when I sleep

Agree with others if you concerned see a GP.

Now I see you got a new bed, could it be a dodgy springe in your mattress, try flipping your mattress over every so often, could need to see a person who specialist in dealing with back problems.

I had back pain on holiday once so I had to request for an extra mattress to be put on, I was on sleeping on a put up bed and the metal frame kept jabbing my back.

Sometimes you can get back pain if you don't have regular bowel movements was another thing I thought of.

I got an X Ray and blood test waiting for hear back. Seems a mystery to me why my back is so sore. Still getting this they gave me stomach tablets but don't see how that will help. Could it be stress or have I bought another uncomfortable mattress?

The X Ray results said it was posture..how can I fix this?

A physical therapist can show you proper ways to sit and stand as well as exercises to strengthen the core muscles needed to do so.

Phil... listen....

Posture is a physical thing. A physical therapist can show you proper ways to sit and stand as well as show you exercises to help strengthen the core muscles needed to do this. Or, you can look up good posture exercises on Youtube and put them into daily practice. Certainly a good mattress helps but with your contamination issues, I definitely wouldn't recommend it! You've binned other expensive items for no good reason other than your OCD.

I wake up with pain really often. I am 27 years old but had a bad car accident about 6 years ago and my back never was really the same. Over the years I have found things to ease the pain, such as seeing a really good chiropractor, massage therapy, acupuncture, etc.

But I think what has given me the most long-lasting change is doing yoga. If I do it before bed, it is not as bad throughout the night and I wake up less achy. I then do some in the morning to loosen up for the day. It has also helped me build core muscles to improve posture.

Good luck!

I'm going to try an extra pillow aswell to see if that helps. It's weird as for years I never had this only when my mattress needed replaced. I just got a new one so can't afford another. Perhaps it's the medication I'm on makes me drowsy and I always seeem frozen in the same position when I sleep now?

When I wake up my head has a pressure spot sometimes

Also when I sleep on my side I still get pain In a different area but sleeping on my back creates the worst pain. The mystery is the pain only starts from 3am because when I wake at this time I feel no pain.

Why would I be getting a pain in my head?

Try not to analyse this. There are so many reasons for head pain, neck and shoulder aches when waking. Be proactive. More pillows, less pillows, stretches before sleep, when you wake..
Don't focus on the "why", focus on trying to rectify what is an extremely common issue for many of us, including me. Are you taking any steps yourself to try and help the problem?
