Abscess on top of gum where wisdom tooth would grow

Hi

I've looked through through a few posts about gum abscesses but can't find an answer to my question. I have a dentist appointment on Monday however I'm worried that this will burst on its own before that. The worry comes from all the scaremongering about burst abscesses spreading the infection to your heart/brain etc. Does anyone have any experience of this? Thanks.

I think I recall Mojo saying she has been a dental nurse or similar so I'm sure she can help you.

My brother had an abscess that was leaking a very long time ago. It made him feel very unwell and prompted him to see his dentist after putting up with it for months.

Your dentist will handle it no problem, they must see these things everyday. They will know if there is any likelihood of anything from what they see and how you feel I reckon.
