View Full Version : Got to have a scan - panicking!

My GP has referred me for an ultrasound scan because I've been having some post menopausal bleeding after starting HRT patches in February. She said she thinks it is hormonal as it's quite common to bleed during the first 3-6 months of starting HRT but she is sending me for a scan just to be sure.

She said she's not worried and if she was then she would be referring me for a fast-scan instead, that was on Tuesday and it kind of put my mind at rest until I had 3 missed calls on my phone yesterday and today and when I redialled the number it was the scanning service, presumably they have received her referral and want to make me an appointment - but why so quickly??? This is a new private scanning centre that has just opened close to me and they take NHS referrals as well as private so that's the only reason they could be calling me. I phoned back but they are at lunch until 2pm. My HA is going into overdrive here!

* They called me back and have made me an appt for 21st July. :scared15:

but why so quickly???

Because they're not particularly busy? :)

Hi

I agree with Fishmanpa, Not the same type of ultrasound you are going for, I saw the specialist and even though he did not feel any lumps, just to be double sure what the GP thought he felt. the hospital receptionist team who deals with making scan appointments, managed to phone up the team to find a slot on the same day for me as mine was only a 10 minute ultrasound at the most to save me going back a few days later, which I thought was fantastic.

Aww thanks guys. I'm just being bloody daft and worrying about something that I have no control over. I need to let it go and use my powers of rational reasoning to deal with the issue.....

Guess who's been reading up on her CBT course notes? :winks:

I had a next day appointment for an internal scan for ovarian abnormalities...just because there was an appointment available and for no other reason.

(I didn't think like this at the time though...hindsight is great:D)
