It's somewhat disturbing to read of suicidal thoughts. There is help available. This was posted by Admin on another thread. Hopefully it helps.

Hi , don't give up a lot of us on here have been in that dark place and I know to well it feels like there is no hope of ever getting better but you can , docs don't allways explain the start up of anti depressants , it can be very hard and make you feel much worse and give you suicidal thoughts non of this was explained to me either , if you realy need help there is the crisis team who can come and see you , it definitely can get better , take care .

You might want to look on the medication section there are people who are on the same meds who can advise you better .

Hi there, I've recently started venlafaxine as well as the mirtazapine I have been on for a few months really wasn't doing a lot for the anxiety and a month ago I got really bad again. I've done 8 days on 37.5 and now on day 7 at 75.

I can't tell if i feel worse or not as was already feeling pretty awful. I think the fatigue is a lot worse though I already had that too. I can;t say I've noticed any improvements but that's to be expected as it's still early days.

I've had funny feelings in my chest too. The tightness will probably be anxiety.

Please hang in there and give things a bit more time. You started on a low dose and it will not likely have helped much yet. Do you have a schedule for increasing to a certain dose?

My experience is these meds generally make you feel worse before they help.

Please stick with it!

Hi thanks for replying I feel really bad today it's just scaring me because kids break up next week for summer holidays an I don't want to be like this then? I see doctor every 3 weeks to see how Meds are doing, no they didn't tell me about side affects I usually don't get them with other Meds been ok it's just this one! How long do side affects normally stay around for?

Were you OK on the lower dose and was it helping at all?

Yer I seemed to be, I was ok on the lower dose but as soon as I started taking 75mg I feel rubbish

Perhaps you need to speak to your doctor about reducing back to the lower dose? Do you think you needed the increase if you were doing OK before?

Just wondering, how old are you? Increased anxiety is very common with increased dosages. But if you are having suicidal thoughts you need to tell your doctor right away. Suicidal thoughts are also a side effect of the medication. Albeit a less common one.
