Family cancer link

My grandfather and great grandfather died in there 40,s of bowel cancer. My father is 72 and gets checkups because his father had it but he is fine. I have had gurgling stomach noises for s few weeks and I'm scared of bowel cancer. I'm male aged 36. Does this mean I'm at a increased risk or because my father didn't get it at a young age or at all so far that the genetic risk doesn't apply to me

I'm not entirely sure about risk factors but I think if there is a genetic link I think that there would be many members with it. I do know if there is a first degree relative with certain cancers it's does heighten your risk, this is what I'm worried about at the moment as my Mother had breast cancer last year. A very aggressive one too.
