Folic acid

I have just been given folic acid to take due to lack of vitamin b12 but the the side effects arnt good bloated stomach and cramps has any one else had to take folic acid?

Yes I had a deficiency in it so took a supplement for about 6 months. I was diagnosed with coeliac disease though so those were symptoms I was already having. Have you had a bloated stomach or cramps in general?

I never had any problems when taking the folic acid though.

Thanks for your reply sorry its taken me so long to reply......i do get the bloating and cramps as i suffer with ibs c perhaps after the 3 months i can stop taking them i might feel better x

Get checked for coeliac disease as I thought for years I had ibs but I've been coeliac all along.

A blood test alone will tell you if your antibodies are raised for it.
