Red mark side of tongue - really scared

I noticed a dark red mark on the left side of my tongue a few days ago. Of course I googled it and now I'm freaking out about it. Has anyone had anything like it that turned out to be something harmless? Please, I'm desperate here, going out of my mind with worry.....

It sounds like it's been irritated perhaps by a food you have eaten or too much salt, it could also be caused by you accidentally biting it without noticing.... it doesn't sound serious.... stay away from Google!!

I don't remember biting it, and I just don't think it looks like irritation. But I know I'm prone to think the worst. I would just love to hear if anyone had anything similar and it turned out to be nothing.
