I am not sure what to do, I have a dilema.

I had a cold and sinusitis about 5 weeks ago, I was put onn anti bs and it cleared up but was left with ear pressure, saw a dr before I went on holiday, twice infact because the pressure was so bad and causing pain. The dr said it was nothing other than inflamation after the sinusitis in the eustachian tube and not to worry, gave me a steroid spray to use and that was that.

Well on monday my dr checked me as the pressure has got worse but he said it was just from the virus, I caught a cold and cough off the children 2 weeks ago, they are better and I am over it now but left with this pressure again.

This weekend ive had very bad headaches with it, all over left side of head esp the crown of my head and the ear pressure is alot worse, not pain but a dragging ache down my head and ear. Its very uncomfortable.

I am seeing my usualy GP on friday re the anxiety, he wants to keep an eye on me but im dreading telling him I still have this ear thing incase he has a go at me. I feel im treated as never actually being ill, I feel they think I make it bloody up, lol!

This ear pressure is making my anxiety worse, I wake every day worrying what it might be, chronic sinusitis? ear tumour? blood clot in brain? etc.............. Today I have a sore patch on my scalp where I have the headache on the crown of my head, its so strange but of course im panicking whats under that sore patch?whats causing it?

Part of me wants to go back to the dr tomorrow to get checked over because I am having headaches with it now but then then part of me says no wait until friday but I know I will be too scared to tell himhttp://www.baby-greenhouse.co.uk/smilies/sad.gif I only like 2 of the drs and I can't request who I see if I go on the triage list tomorrow, the other drs are not very friendly at all and I find it hard to talk to them.

Will they do anything though if its just pressure from yet another cold? the steroid spray isn't helping at all and ive been using it 3 weeks. I am not sure what to do, I don't like going there with this but I am in pain, I came home from work on friday crying because my headache was so severe.

Hi cherry, well only you have the answer to that, and if you feel that you are getting no where, i would try and see another doctor, or if push comes to shove register with another surgery.

Hi,

Sorry you are still feeling so bad.

I think first thing tomorrow you should ring your ENT consultant's secretary. See if it's possible you can make an appointment to discuss all your concerns with him. That way, you get a thorough investigation and you don't have to go back to your GP.

You might also find the ENT consultant takes you a bit more seriously. I think the problem for all of us that are diagnosed with anxiety is that we think the doctor is just assuming everything we get is anxiety. I'm not sure if this is the case as if you presented with anything that appeared to be serious, then I'm sure they would investigate it as they would with anyone else. (Does that all make sense? It sounds a bit garbled!).

If you can't get an appointment with the specialist, then I think you should go back to one of your doctors. If the symptoms are causing you a lot of distress then you need to get some help with the management of them. Maybe they could give you some other medication to help until this virus clears up.

But I think what you really need is reassurance that your symptoms are not serious, and are not going to develop into something else. And therefore I would be inclined to go back to the ENT doc because I think he could do this best.

Don't be scared to talk to your GP - it's what they are there for and previously he has been very supportive. He may have been having a few bad days last week and could be completely different this week. He can see you are distressed and that you aren't feeling well - and he is obviously concerned for your welfare because he wants to see you again this week and keep an eye on you. He really has your best interests at heart, but maybe he finds it difficult to know how to reassure you?

I really hope this virus clears up soon because I know how much distress it is causing.

You know where I am if I can help ....

:hugs:

I am not sure I would bother for now.

I was talking to Alex's step-mum the other day and she has had this sinus thing since before Xmas and it is still on-going.

She doesn't suffer HA or anxiety atall so she is bearing with it and they told her it will go in time.

She has had countless anti-biotics to no effect so is using the steam inhalation thing as well. Are you doing that?

Good idea, and I really hope you're feeling a bit better in the morning.

But don't be put off of going back to the doctor because of his manner last week. You are obviously feeling unwell, plus anxiety is as much an illness and needs treatment like anything else people go to the docs for. You have as much right to be there as everyone else! Don't let them make you think otherwise! I do think that maybe your GP doesn't know what to do next, as he's obviously sure this is a virus and nothing worse; but please don't put yourself through unnecessary distress until Friday if a 5 minute chat with a doc tomorrow could make you feel somewhat better.
