hi
So the last 18months I've been taking citalopram for anxiety/panic attacks.
Was prescribed 40mg about 2 months ago.
The last 3/4 weeks been hell! Anxiety really high really sweating feel dizzy etc.

Went to my GP today and he suggested I try escitalopram 20mg.

Going to start them tonight.

Really worrying as a few weeks ago doctor prescribed propanolol and had really really bad side effects, couldn't stand up dripping with sweat was awful 🙁

So now I'm just thinking any tablet in now going to take will make me feel like that 🙈

Has anybody else on here gone from citalopram to escitalopram???

I will post updates every few days

Hope I don't get major side effects as I have two young kids to look after.

Hi Dolly,

I am not in this yet but escitalopram may be my next option. Did the citalopram work for you before? Apparently cit and Escit are very similar with Escit being more potent and a cleaner version on cit so you might not find you get too many side effects. I'm seeing my psych next week to see if Escit will work as well as the citalopram has so I'll keep you posted on what she says. Mrose has a thread in the citalopram forum as she has recently done the switch so that may help answer some of your questions.

I had many dosage changes which resulted in bad side effects but it seems like you are doing a like for like swap so in theory you should be okay.

It seemed to go pretty smoothe for her, fingers crossed that happens for you too X

I did a straight switch a couple of years back and didn't notice anything remarkable as far as side effects.

I think they are both pretty similar as far as side effects.
