Hi

I wonder if anyone has had a high CRP level and what was the outcome?

Mine was 20, and now its 18. It should be under 5.

My GP said some people just run high.

I am having autoimmune bloods this week.

I understand ti can be raised in cancer too.

Can anyone advise?

Hi

CRP Is produced by the liver and reacts to inflammation.

How are your other blood tests? i read previously you have had loose stools for a while? I have too on and off with constipation, got my first GI appt Thurs and colonoscopy. What has the GP said other than what he mentioned as some can just be high?

Hi

I had a colonoscopy at my own expense and the doc said Ive got iBS.

All other bloods are fine.

I suppose I should believe him?

I have noticed my legs toes and ankles are stiff in the morning, but i suppose he'll say its my age 43).

Hi

Do you have a raised cRP?

Good luck in your colonscopy - its really not bad at all. I wouldnt hesitate getting another and the laxative was ok too.

CRP indicates inflammation but it doesn't tell you where it is. 20 isn't particularly high though. It can be a bit up even due to allergies or a virus, nothing sinister.

To put your worries into perspective (hopefully) when I got really ill and was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease my CRP was something close to 200!

Hi

i have my blood test tomorrow and see the GP next week.

Wow, 200 is really high.

I just want to know why it is higher than it should be. My anxiety is going crazy.

What happens if my autoimmune tests come back normal?

I wouldnt be able to stop thinking something sinister is happening in my body. :weep:::weep:

Last time I tested it a couple of weeks back it was 3 and I had a virus at the time. I've had it as low as 1 before but that's often with medication assistance.

Your's really is unlikely to be anything to be worried about.

Yeah I was really bad - in hospital for 2 months, had a drain in my abdomen for 7 months. They couldn't operate cos I had a heart attack at the same time.

Wow! Sorry you had to experience that. I thought my experience was bad. All sorts of abscesses and a stricture. That was 7 years ago and I've still managed to avoid surgery. Is your's under control now?

Also sorry to hijack the thread!

When I was poorly once mine was 599!! I still never found out what it was but it went down to 6 not sure if that's a bad thing seeing you said it's meant to be under 5?

I had a CRP test for chest/joint pain. It came back ~16. Of course I googled possible causes and completely freaked out. I went in for a follow up test a few weeks later and it was under 1. Was probably just a virus or something.
