Today is World Mental Health Day.... a day to end the stigma that is behind mental health. To endeavour to help people to see that as much an illness as any other out there.....People with mental health problems are not mad, they aren't 'mental' they are just ill.

I personally have a mental health problem, one that I am not ashamed to talk about, one that I don't ever want to sweep under the carpet and pretend it doesn't exist.

In fact I am proud of myself for coping how I do and holding down 2 1/2 jobs, proud that i don't have to hide it from the world and proud that I have made many friends because of my illness who are just as 'mad' as I am

I met one of my best friends through university when we set up a mental health society! We just clicked and it was like I'd known her all my life we were so similar! As much as I hate my anxiety, it is one reason I've met many lovely people and made lifelong friends!

I'd rather be mental over normal any day. :D

These days I wonder if normal is the new mental?!!! :D

Since we are all being proud of the taboo, I'm declaring today "I'm proud of my roids" day. :yahoo: I've asked their opinion on this and their response was "swell". :winks:
