Hello, I have just started taking Pregabalin for back pain, I have been told to start on 150mg each evening. I took my first one last night (about 8pm) expecting it to help me sleep as a sedative as doctor said it should knock me out, but I felt very awake and my heart was fluttering, I was still awake at midnight and found it really hard to get to sleep. The next morning I still have the feeling of a fluttering heart and feel quite spaced out, uncoordinated and drowsy. Would I get the sedative effect to help me sleep if I took them earlier in the evening? Is the heart fluttering normal? Thank you

I'm on 50mg twice a day and I can't day i've ever had any heart fluttering.

The first few days of these really helped me sleep like a log unfortunately that effect seems to have ended.

Hi Wendles,

Start-up heart fluttering and insomnia are common effects of medication anxiety when starting a new medication, particularly among people with health anxiety.

If you have been prescribed pregabalin for back pain, focus on whether it is helping that.
