risperidone vs lithium

My doctor has suggested I go on lithium. Don't fancy it as it has some side effects and requirement for blood tests. Anybody else on it? I rather stick with risperidone but it's making me feel depressed.

Hi Phil! The know 'Sidiam' has just started on Lithium, so maybe you could contact him/her to see how she has been getting along. I take Olanzapine and have read that it is good in higher doses for depression, but it may be similar to Risperidone. I did take Lithium many years ago (like 20years), I don't ever remember having blood tests for it though. The main thing I remember was a metalic taste in my mouth. But everything comes with side effects, be it dry mouth etc. Hope you find some relief soon. Tracy
