Hi everyone!

Hope you're as well as can be!

I currently have piles :( I've been taking suppositories for a week, with no real improvement.

How long do piles usually last for? I'm not sure whether to go back to my GP, as I just finished my course of suppositories, and it's so itchy and uncomfortable.

I was going to Google how long they take to heal, but thought I better hadn't :/

Thank you so much!!

Yes, it was 2 weeks for me. I didn't do anything, they healed on their own. I've made sure to eat enough fiber ever since, and I never had a problem with them again!

You could ask a pharmacist to save on a GP trip. They can easily advise you on this, especially since they can see what you have just used per your GP.

It may just mean you need a longer course of treatment or a different treatment. Suppositories didn't work for me and in the end a foam was the one that has always worked. It's prescription only though but I just wanted ti give you an example of why it's not worth worrying about.

Mine have been there a long time now, many years. They would flare up now & again, mostly before my anxiety started, and they don't bother me much these days. Mine just got to the point of needing something a but more invasive to remove them but I've never bothered following it up since they don't bother me much. I haven't treated them in many years either.

It's not worth Googling, you will just come across the nasty stuff. Roids for 2 weeks is absolutely nothing, they can take longer in many cases. As long as they are improving, that's all that matters. If they are not, a chat with your GP is in order.

At the worst of it, I found salt water bathing helped with the itchiness. Look at the material of your underwear too in case that doesn't help, as well as how restrictive it is. Look at the restrictions of your outer clothes too.

Apple cider vinegar.

get some of that and put a teaspoon in your water or soda water each day and it works wonders!! Also avoid alcohol. Piles and alcohol go hand in hand!

Mine have flared up over the last week and on Friday I stood and watched my tube of bum cream trundling it's way along the conveyor belt at Tesco's checkout but at that point I didn't care.:whistles:

A few days of creaming myself up, drinking lots of water and whingeing and I'm OK again.:yesyes:

Yes I have had them and GP prescribed suppositories that work wonders. Glad you're now bad to yourself.

Being a 40 year old man, a copy of Heat magazine and a tube of pile cream might be an insight into another area of my lifestyle. :D

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in supermarket staff rooms. There's a lot to be said for shopping online lol:D

Yep. Diet is the only thing that works for me... lots of water, dried appricots and lots of fruit and veg.
