Just come out the shower and i noticed a small tiny tiny dark freckle on my ankle. Its dark brown, i have a few others like it and it looks regular borders, its the fact it 'may' be new. I don't look at my ankles often. Melanoma was a huge HA thing for me start of the year. In the summer i wore factor 50 but I'm worrying. As per.

Great, now checking other freckle and moles and don't know if they have changed or grown.

Sorry to bump this but i am still worried. Im not 100% sure that it is a new freckle but I feel like it is. Its small, dark brown, uniformed, similar to a few others but I'm scared it'll grow and change and scab and itch. I'm quite sure it's new and it's melanoma. And before anyone points out my old threads again please note i hsd gotten over my MM fear. Completely. Hence why i worry this is a new freckle therefore cancerous.

It almost certainly isn't melanoma. Why can't it just be a new freckle?

What do you want people to tell you? It sounds nothing like melanoma but you're not for having that.

If you're concerned then go to a doctor, posting about it here is utterly pointless if you don't care what anyone says.

If you have concerns over a new freckle see your GP

This freckle hasn't changed in two weeks. Pinprick sized, slightly raised and dark brown. Would you be concerned? It looks similar to other freckles in comparison to size and colour just not all of these little ones are raised? Almost feels like hair follicule.

Sounds normal to me.

How can you be so sure that it's a "new" freckle? I mean are you honestly all that aware of how many freckles you had previously/where they were positioned/their appearance?

I'm sure we all have at least one we don't even realise that we have; In fact I've just done a quick personal check and I have quite a few on my upper right arm and I swear I've never noticed them before.

I highly doubt that you have anything to be worried about with your ankle freckle, although if you are concerned see a doctor.

Best wishes!

It could be new.

My dermatologist told me we grow "things" on our body all of our life.

That was reassuring to me because I always felt anything new has to be cancer.

Not by a long shot.

But if you are worried a quick trip to your dermatologist will fix that for you.

You've mentioned all the things that pretty much eliminate the possibility of it being melanoma. Anything under 6mm in diameter is highly unlikely to be of any interest to a doctor or dermatologist. Yours is "pinprick" size, so clearly nowhere near 6mm in diameter.

The fact it looks like other freckles on your body also points directly away from anything sinister. Dermatologists use what some call the ugly duckling rule, as in if your freckle or mole is completely different to other freckles and moles on your body, it may warrant further investigation. As your freckle is the same as others, the ugly duckling rule doesn't apply to you.

You clearly know about melanoma, so why not try to apply that knowledge and channel it into something positive. You know, clearly, that all of the things you mention completely destroy the notion of this being cancer, so why do you need confirmation from us?

The more you look at it the more worrisome it will become. You have probably always had that freckle but you have never focused on it before. That's what HA is - focusing on the normal to such a degree that you lose your perspective on what is normal. Refuse to look at it. After a few days not looking at it you will gain some perspective.

I agree with both the above, it isnt a huge worry but i got my boyfriend to look and he said it looked black but on closer inspection looked dark brown. Not ALL of my FRECKLES ARE LIKE THIS BUT I HAVE many that are.

There you go then. As Gary said it isn't the 'ugly duckling'. That would be a one off that looked nothing like your others.

I have a strange looking mole thing that I was convinced was Melanoma last year. It's around 6mm, is uneven and I didn't have it a few years ago. Turns out I have a similar albeit tiny one elsewhere. Also my GP told me growth is normal too, it's rapid growth that is worrying. If it hasn't changed in 2 weeks then I'd say it's simply a freckle.

Hi guys, turns out i had had a tiny scab on the tiny freckle. I beleive i mustve scracthed it when it was new, thinking it was dirt. Last night i thought id knock it slightly to see if it was a scab and it was; came off easily and didnt bleed. Freckle is now a lighter shade of brown (assuming scab made it darkwr) and can the uniformed borders. All good yes?

Just worried that it had a scab on in the first place and worried incase it wasnt caused by me.

Actually, the real reason you're worried is that you have an anxiety disorder that, as far as I know, is going untreated.

You might think that's unhelpful. It's actually all you need to know.

I'm not going to use the I'm doing better line because i was worried about bowel cancer after *ahem* painting my panties a little bit.

But i haven't been inspecting my freckles like i used to. I would be off every hour when i was working or on the loo AND I'm using more logic, scabbed freckle is bad though no?

Why can you never just let anything go? Cancerous moles don't come off. You don't have a cancerous mole.

Give it a rest.

No one here is a doctor. Go talk to a doctor.
