Ive never been on antidepressants but i am suffering from depersonalization as a result of my extreme anxiety and im really struggling..what is the best medication? any recommendations

I'd say it really will be down to your doctor, have you asked about medication?

No i havent, im worried about side effects but im desperate

I suffer from depersonalisation quite a bit. The only medication that has really worked for me was Rivotril, though I've been on a variety of different ones. As anti-depressants go, I used to be on Zoloft (didn't get on well with it) and am now on Escitalopram. Escitalopram has been working well for me so far in that it has significantly reduced the duration of my panic attacks and the slightly higher dose of 15 mg is helping the depersonalisation, I find.

I have been on sertraline for a year now, completely stopped my panic attacks and the side effects only lasted a week. Definitely worth a try!
