Hi

I'm currently on day 24 of taking citalopram 20mg. It has helped with quite a few of the symptoms I was experiencing but the morning anxiety is still present and although I no longer wake up with a panic attack I feel anxious about the day ahead and what it might bring. I'm struggling with not wanting to mix and socialise with people and I'm also anxious about the thought of having to go back to work (been off for four weeks).

I'm due to go back to my gp in two weeks but I'm not sure if I should go sooner and ask for my dose to be upped or wait and see if things improve as it's early days going in what I have read on some threads.

I am seeing a therapist today so hoping that will help as well. Any advice gratefully received!

Early days yet, so just hang in there. It took 8 weeks for Cit to work on me and mornings are the worse times for anxiety.

I understand your anxieties, they are the "normal" ones, but make sure you do mix and socialise as this will take your mind of things. Going back to work is an anxious time for most people regardless of any issues, but you will find your colleagues will be great to you, probably missed you.

See how the therapist goes, some work and others dont, you have to find the one that clicks with you. It took me 3 tries before I found one, the first made me worse, the second did nothing, but the third has been very good. Different methods and techniques.

I am on here if you need to chat.

Im on about day 35 and i started on 20mg. At my review with my GP after about 20 days I said how the 20mg was starting to take the edge off some of my panic attacks but I was still suffering from general anxiety where I was looking for my next attack. He increased me to 40mg which i've been on for a couple of weeks now and Ive noticed the difference. Placebo or not I can now be in trigger situations where I'm not looking for my attack to come on about 80% of the time, which to me is amazing. Im due back again in a couple of weeks to review how the increase is working and I wouldnt want to go up any further. For me the change between 20 and 40 has been great and has given me a great starting point to work through my triggers.

If you're not having any major side effects from the 20mg I say go and talk to your GP about the benefits you've seen so far and discuss what an increase could help you with.
