Hey guys! its been a while since I gave a proper update so I thought I would. my eating issues are still on the sucky scale but on the brightside I managed to come out to almost all of my family and I've officially had two counselling sessions(i'll continue on the 3rd of January) while I'm still not perfect in the health anxiety area (especially not the broken bone one) I am getting better at it, I've learned to calm down and properly analysis the situation which dies help quite a bit, for instance earlier I stepped on my brothers xbox controller lead which caused the controller to fall of the xbox and hit the back of my foot. instead of obsessing for hours I remained calm and told myself I'd see it feels in the morning(despite the burning/tingling I have in it and the pain in a certain part I'm almost certain I'll actually be still be able to sleep tonight) it helps to tell myself that even if it was the worse(which I doubt) there's still a low chance of it going to kill me and I manage to actually believe myself which is great. all in all I'm making baby steps but I'm getting there. as far as my acid reflux issues I have an appointment with a gastric doctor on the 14th of January, at this point its not looking too promising but at least things are getting done. I really hope you guys are having a good Christmas week i'm sorry for rambling on x

It's good that you are receiving counselling. You are being given the tools to deal with your HA. Just remember that it takes at least a couple of months for counselling to have a real impact on HA. But you are on your way so well done.

Thank you x
My biggest issue right now is what I'm is only a temporary service(and is only about 10 sessions) so I'll have to look out for what else I can get so I might get on that already x

Good idea. 10 sessions is a really good start though. Good luck.

It's great to hear you are getting somewhere, Sam. Well done! :yesyes::yahoo: Remember, the work comes from you and even the best therapist in the world can't help someone unwilling or unable to help themselves. Remember that when any doubts or blips come.

10 sessions is about right. I had 12, I think. NICE have guidelines around that level for the IAPT services. They differ between GAD and OCD.

Are you with an IAPT provider? If so, which level is your treatment at? If Level 3, going above that means accessing the Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) and this can take quite a while but they have access to many forms of specialised treatment as they are there to treat severe cases and more complex mental health issues like bipolar, schizophrenia, etc. That's why IAPT was introduced to cut down on patient delays in accessing the old CMHT services. IAPT isn't available in Scotland though.

I'm currently with a lottery funded place in Cornwall called BeMe, they usually do 6 sessions because its a temporary therapy but I got recommended for 10 of them which is a good start :) x
