Hi all,
Does talking therapy work for people with anxiety and how does it work?
Regards,
Andrew.

It's been working well for me. I find talking about my problems and the anxiety and panic I experience is upsetting in the moment, but relieving in the end. The therapist finds connections between the things you talk about as you talk about them, and prompts the patient to figure out the root cause of their anxiety. It's a process, though, and not an easy one at that, but it gives you the tools you need to rationalise things and self-analyse.

Thanks Ana, that's really useful hope you get better soon, I'm going for an assessment this Friday and I'm looking forward to it because it will help me get better :)

Thank you. :) Yes, absolutely, it will help you and take a weight off your shoulders. A combination of medication and therapy is what brings most results, I've found. I'm going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment, but I'm hopeful about getting better as I'm getting help for my anxiety.
I hope your assessment goes great on Friday!

That's great to hear. I'm sure the sessions will help you a lot. I've been doing better lately, thankfully. I'm seeing my therapist tomorrow, actually. I see her once a week.
