Hello, I'm new here. Nice to meet you.
I have eye floaters for about 5 years now, and I'm really worried! It first appeared when I visit the school dentist when I was 16. The dentist used a kind of laser (purple or blue light, can't remember) and no one told me I can't look at it. Until the assistant noticed it, and told me to look away. But it seems the damage is already done. The next day onwards, I have these annoying floaters, about 9 of them, not as big as a coin.

These days I'm preparing for school and everything, the floaters are affecting my reading. I feel like I should see an eye doctor.. but I'm scared. Should I? I'm having the anxiety. What if they can't treat me..? They can, right? But will there be risks? Does anyone have similar problems with me?

They are harmless I've had them for 20 years. They can be annoying especially if you have them on the middle of your eye lol. Yes you should see your eye doctor once a year. Just for a check up. Unless he or she says otherwise.:yesyes:

I have a lot of floaters, most are like tiny circles and one is worm shaped. Mentioned them to my optician who couldn't even see them and said they must be very small. So even if we perceive them as large (my worm one is), they are probably tiny in reality.

I have them too. I have had mine for years. My eye specialist has them too. He said when they get in the way when he is reading he just flicks them out of the way. lol

I have had floaters for 8 years. They are a completely normal part of the ageing process of the eye, caused by changes in the vitreous substance in the eye.

I had an outbreak of them a few weeks ago while suffering from an eye infection and they subsided after a few days.

There is some good information if you Google "flashes and floaters" and click the link to Moorfields Eye Hospital (I can't yet put the link in this post as I do not have enough posts on NMP) about floaters, what causes them, and so on.

Hi I'm not sure if mine is a floater I only see it when I blink a light circle flashes in my vision. I do have swollen optic discs in both eyes and I'm currently being tested for idiopathic intercranial hypertension x
