if you get the racing heart thing with your anxiety it may work but otherwise it may not. Sort of supposed to block the adrenaline rushes

hi lisa, i took propranolol for six months. gradually increasing the dosage. eventually my body gradually got use to it and then they did'nt work. and then went on to prozac for anxiety, which is working pretty well. as a word of advice the propranolol made my symptoms of anxiety worse. if you don't have to take meds, don't.

stu:)

p.s propranolol slows your heart beat, thus decreasing adrenaline and anxiety. also are non addictive.

Hi there!
I took this for a few weeks and didnt have any problems.Only i do think worrying about it to much can bring on symptoms,so try not to think about taking it.Mine worked within a few days.
I decided with advice from my gp last year to go onto citalopram as betablockers wouldet help long term!
I have been on citalopram fora year and have found them a godsend and im nearly off them now with no real problems. So maybe if they dont work for you try something else, but please dont suffer as its not worth it.

hi there lisa,
i take propranolol and it has saved me ... it took about a week to get in my system and i have had no panic attacks while on them ... i was on 40mg 3 times a day and i am now down to 20mg twice a day so i take it day by day but i know i can go stright back on if i feel bad... i had no side affects so that helped ... i hope you can give it a chance as everyone of us are different... i hope you find relief soon xx
