Hi I am new to posting here. I'm a long time lurker but this is my first time posting. So I hope I am posting this in the right spot. Please let me know if it's not.

I'm a 28 year old non smoker, casual drinker. I was a smoker for a few years in my teens and early 20's but I quit almost 6 years ago now.

I'll start by going back to October when I had headaches for 2 weeks, blurry vision and dizziness. I was sure I had brain cancer. One night I was so anxious I ended up in the ER and ended up getting fluids and a scan. Everything came back fine and it turned out my glasses prescription had changed and I just needed new glasses. But of course dr Google made me believe I had cancer. I was a mess for 2 weeks. Couldn't do anything was in bed depressed and crying. My doctor prescribed me cipralex for my anxiety but my anxiety over taking the pills was too bad and I started feeling better so I never took them.

Fast forward to last Thursday. I found a weird growth on the top of my tongue. I immediately thought it was a tumor and went to a walk in clinic. The doctor said it looked harmless and was probably a wart and gave me a referral to an ENT to have it removed. I couldn't stop playing with it and looking at it and doscovered white lines like veins under my tongue. Who knows if they have been there forever or not but it was a concern. I also had a canker sore on the floor of my mouth and a fleshy looking skin tag on the arch in the back of my mouth. So checking out my mouth made me a complete mess so I went to the dentist the next day to have it all looked at again. The dentist said the bump on my tongue looked like enlarged taste buds and just to watch it. The lines on my tongue were normal and the skin tag in my mouth wasn't completely normal but nothing looked like cancer. He says to come back in 2 weeks.

Well the next day I bit my tongue and the lump it was hanging on by a piece of skin so I pulled it off. It bled for a minute then was a fine. It looks to be healing fine but I still have a canker sore, these odd white lines under my tongue and a skin tag looking thing in my throat. They havent got worse or better just stayed the same. But since yesterday I have had a terrible feeling of having something stuck in my throat. I seems to go away when I sleep or drink or eat but I can't stop thinking about it and it won't go away. I don't think anything is caught in my throat. Maybe anxiety? Or maybe it's a growth like what was on my tongue in my groat. All my google searches have come back with warts related to hpv which can be related to oral cancer and cancers.

Tonight I think it's about time I take the cipralex that my doctor prescribed me in October. I'm really hoping it'll help but I can't help but have anxiety over taking the pills and having side effects. How crazy does that sound?!

Does any of this sound like oral or throat cancer or does it all sound like health anxiety? :weep:

I haven't seen the ent yet because it's a long wait. Up to 6 months to see him.

Back story- I lost my mom to brain cancer 3 years ago. And I watched it take her life in a short 2 months. I was with her when she took her last breath. I know how much it has broken me and it kills me to think of leaving my 3 kids behind with that same pain.

I'm a Head and Neck cancer survivor. Nothing you said remotely presents like oral cancer.

Cancer is an uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells. It doesn't come and go nor does it stop once it starts.

Thank you. I've actually come across quite a few of your replies while lurking here. They have helped me so much. So thank you. It's so easy to get caught up in these fears. I can't remember what I searched up but it had 0 to do with cancer just something about the mouth and the first thing to pop up was an article on oral cancer. Google is a terrible place.

I kinda know what oral cancer looks like, and if you had it you would see it without a doubt i think, its really hard to miss from what ive seen.

This was what the lump looked like if anyone was curious. The one I bit off. It hasn't grown back. Fingers crossed it doesn't grow back.

lump in throat - or feeling like you have something stuck in your throat is a classic anxiety symptom- and most people's immune systems naturally fight off HPV, at least that is what my dr told me when I asked about it
