View Full Version : Help! colonoscopy prep advise please

I have my colonoscopy tomorrow and have taken my fist litre of prep. Completed it at 6:15. I have been to the loo but just a few normal stools. I expected it to be running out by now? I feel really nauseous and bloated and panicking now that it has got stuck somewhere!

Oh don't worry....There's no way that the prep won't clear you out thoroughly!

I do wish you all the very best for tomorrow, Annie. The waiting will soon be over now.

Thank you Pulisa. It is certainly clearing me out now and I feel nauseous and can't stop shivering. I feel so scared now :(

It's probably a combination of high anxiety and the prep clearing you out. Also you won't have eaten much today.

I was like this when I had mine done. It's quite normal. Tonight won't be pleasant but it's a means to an end and you do need to clear yourself out as much as possible so that the doctor can get the best possible views of your colon.

The more you pass the better. Just keep close to the loo xx

Thank you everyone I have to be at the hospital for 12:15. Really nervous and feeling weak and dizzy with no food. I just can't wait to get the needle in my arm to sedate me!

I don't know what sedation they gave me as it had no effect at all! I knew everything that was happening and I was in a lot of pain. They had to give me gas and air and even with that it was painful. The last time I had it I didn't feel a thing.
The result... I have Sigmoid colon diverticulosis and ibs :(
I have just had my first meal in 48 hours and it was delicious :)

Sorry Elen I have just noticed your reply. As well as the above I also have intussusseption in my bowel and I have to go for a scan on 23rd March.

If that's the case, while it certainly isn't pleasant, it's very treatable and can be resolved with a simple procedure ;)
