Bit of a wildcard.. Worried about boyfriend

Hi,
This is a bit of a wild idea but hey ho, what's new! So my boyfriend has this weird rash looking thing on his leg. Had it for a few weeks. The first doctor he saw said he wasn't sure what it was but gave him some steroid cream. He was told to come back if it wasn't gone. Anyway it's not gone, it looks better on the inside of the rash, but the outside looks worse. So he went back today and saw the same guy, who got another doctor to come in and look at it. Anyway they don't know what it is but have assured him it's nothing serious like cancer but said to come back straight away if it's gets worse, or to give it 4 weeks with a different ointment. So, for some reason I've decided it might be aids. I have no idea what symptoms of aids are, I don't even know why it's come into my little head. The doctors never mentioned aids at all.

What do you guys think? Totally irrational from me?

In a word - yes. You've attached a random serious diagnosis to an odd rash.

If the doctors were worried by it they'd be doing more tests not treating with ointment.

Not at all AIDS. But maybe he should see a specialist(dermatologist) as the GP can't give a correct diagnosis.
