Hi everyone
I've been lurking around this site for a few months on and off but today I decided that lurking is just creepy and I'm now a fully fledged member :)
Back in October 2014 I was diagnosed with an Acoustic Neuroma, which is a very rare, but benign brain tumour which effects around 1 in 100,000 people. Diagnosis came after I'd been suffering with a combination of tinnitus and hearing loss in my right ear. I was sent for an MRI scan which found the small tumour.
Recent scans have shown slight growth which means I'm currently waiting for radiotherapy to blast the little sucker and hopefully I can move on with my life.
Since diagnosis I have completely changed. I notice every tiny little niggle in my body and am constantly in a state of panic about everything.
My 8 year old son came home from school a few weeks ago and he told me that he'd had a nose bleed...I almost passed out because I immediately thought it was something sinister. Turns out someone had accidentally hit him whilst they were putting on their coat!!
Anyway, the long and short of it is, I have a benign brain tumour that has sent me on this Health Anxiety journey that I'm trying to manage myself with the help of mindfulness and an understanding husband.
Best wishes :D
