group analysis/ group therapy

Hi,

I have been asked to research group analysis/therapy with a view to me attending a group. I have researched on the internet and I am quite interested in what I have found out. I think I will give the group a bash.

However, if there is anyone reading this who attends such a group, or has done, it would be great if you could share your experience good or bad.

Hi Happyone, I attended group therapy for a period of about 3 months in 2005. It was self funded in a private hospital (one of the Priory hospitals) and I have to say it turned everything around for me. My expereinces were on the whole very positive. At the start I was a bit bewildered by it and couldn't quite believe I was there. I should have been an inpatient but wasn't insured so couldn't afford it (by a long shot!). the groups were mixed between inpatients and day patients and listening to others' experiences and providing my own input was very valuable.
