Hello Guys,

As the title says l found myself down this awful hole in the last few weeks, in that time l must have seen 4 GPs and 2 Neurologists who all said l was clinically fine, just worked myself to a crazy anxious state. The last Neuro said for me to be sure l should have a EMG/NVS test ( which l had last night, and it was normal), l said to him that l was having perceived slurred speech, so he needled my chin and that too was fine.

Is it fair to say that because during the last 3 weeks l was convinced about my speech and high anxiety levels that l still remain very cautious about my speech? l was told that it takes a while for the mind to accept there is nothing wrong with you, l mean before the examination l was told this but you guys know what the mind does:wacko:

The last few weeks have been the worst, cant really compare this to anything else, and even though l had a normal study yesterday, my brain is still finely tuned to my speech.

MUST GET A GRIP AND RETURN TO NORMALITY:doh:

You have been clinically and officially cleared of ALS. Thrilling news.

Personally, I find accepting anxiety is the first big step. Once you realise this and accept your good news you will slowly drift back into normality and your speech will go unnoticed as it will become natural.

Talk to your GP about your health anxiety as it is a condition. I'm having mild CBT for mine currently.
