So my HA was getting better. I used to have big fears about my heart, but was recently found to have gallstones... my fears were almost non existent.

Today I went to the doctor to book in with a surgeon to get it removed. I had blood work about 5 weeks ago and they never called so I assumed all was fine.

He reviews it and says "there's blood in your urine. I'm gonna send you for more urine tests and to see a specialist."

I'm of course freaked right out that something is now horribly wrong. I thought I was gonna pass out in his office.

Anyone else have this before?

Yes i have just gone through this. I had blood in my urine but no infection so i had to see a urologist and have an ultrasound of my kidneys and bladder which was ok. I then had to have a cystoscopy and 2 polyp type things were seen which looked inflammed. I had to have a biopsy and my anxiety was sky high but it came back fine and it was just mild inflammation. I worried myself sick and it ended up being fine.

Thank you, this helps.
I don't think they even tested for infection the first time because he's sending me back for another urine test. Maybe it will be a simple infection.
He tends to jump the gun though so he didn't just book in for that, he also booked a scope and a urologist ...

He did the same when I said my stomach hurt ... ultra sound to check for gallbladder, but cardiologist too.

I'm glad there are more possibilities than where my mind immediately went to. I wanted to Google it so badly when I left, but I came here instead.

Someone else told me there was tons of reasons why there could be blood in the urine. It's usually not cancer.

Might be a UTI which causes blood in urine sometimes.

Wishing you well and keep us posted.

Try not to worry I think quite a few people experience this in their lifetime. I had a presumed UTI in November (I say presumed because by the time I got tested for it, my symptoms were gone and it came back negative) and I had frequent uriniation, producing a small amount, and a painful burning sensation when I peed. It seemed to be better but then I noticed more burning and tiny but of blood in my pee but the next day at the doctors my symptoms had gone and their was nothing dectected in my urine and I've been fine since. Generally when you have to worry is when you are seeing the blood yourself in the toilet, are older and have no other symptoms. In your case it should be fine.
Hope all goes well x

Thank you :)
I can't see any blood on my own at all. Maybe I went too close to that time of the month for the tests. I also gave my urine sample and after realized you're supposed to start filling the cup mid flow ... oops lol.

I just got off the phone with my mom and she said they found blood in her urine too and she did all those tests and it was absolutely nothing.

Panic mode lessening ... for now ....

No problem I know the feeling! I panicked because I could actually see a bit and jumped to the worst conclusions and of course having health anxiety caused me to google it which was a terrible idea. But now I'm pretty certain it couldn't have been anything else as it was associated with symptoms and disappeared on its own. Best of luck though and try not to worry and certainly don't google. Perhaps it could have been a period thing as well because I suppose that could easily get in your urine! The fact that your mum experienced the same thing should put you at ease. Let us know how it all goes x

I've had a UTI before and I could see the blood a bit too. I went on antibiotics for that.
This time I can't see anything at all and I have no symptoms. Apparently not all infections show symptoms though.

And yes. I will stay away from Google. That was literally my first impulse when I left the doctors office but I came here instead.

I wish I could go to the doctor and they're like "hey, everything came back fine. Go home." Lol. Never the case, but so far it has never been anything overly serious. Thank god.

I had blood in urine and no infection for quite a few months. I had ultrasounds and cystoscopy and they found nothing. I'd convinced myself it was a tumour. Nobody could tell me what it was caused by but my symptoms went away. Try not to worry too much

Thank you, all these comments help.
I was so worried. I'm still worried today, but not as much as I was yesterday that's for sure.
Hopefully it was just a fluke or something.

Infection would have shown up in the first urine test so he did test for it. The normal procedure when a UTI is suspected is to have the urine cultured to ide tidy the bacteria that is causing it. That way the correct antibiotic can be prescribed.

Just out of curiosity why didn't you ask the doctor why he was doing further urine tests?

He's re-testing to see if the blood is still present ...
He said errors can occur, or it could have been from a cut or close to that time of the month.

Hi! I'm new here tonight. I'm so pleased to find this thread. It's not me I'm anxious about, it's my 21yr old son. He has had blood in his urine. He's away at uni but sensibly took himself to the docs. He had a sarcoma removed 2 yeas ago and I am now incredibly anxious about any symptoms he ever has. His doc sent him for ultrasound scans of kidneys, Bladder and testicles, which we are told were clear. But I can't relax! I have googled ( I know, I've been reading about Dr Google on here!) and I'm terrified it's cancer again! Panic in overdrive! He had blood in his urine again last night, so I've told him to go back to his docs. In the meantime.....I'm a crying, shaking wreck! He has end of year exams in 2 weeks, and a dissertation proposal to submit! We've been through the cancer diagnosis thing once before and all the feelings have come right back. It's horrible and I'm scared! What should I do?!
Thank you for letting me get this off my chest!

Ah yes, back to this post haha.
So, I went for a ultra sound of the kidneys and bladder, did 3 more urine tests, including one that looks for cancer cells.

I had my follow up on Thursday and he said the cancer cells were negative, the ultra sound looked OK, but the blood was still present in the urine tests.
He also said they spotted a cyst on one of my ovaries 🤦*♂️

Now he's gonna do the camera up the urethra thing to make sure no cancer is hiding beyond what the ultra sound and stuff showed.

I'm kinda freaking about all of this.
The blood is making me super nervous. I'm pretty sure I could visibly see it tonight too.

It seems like if it's not one thing it's another :(
