Hello. I've recently found my self back on NMP after a 5 year break. I'm 26 years old and have suffered with anxiety and OCD like thoughts since I was 18. 5 years ago I really struggled with anxiety and emetophobia and was unable to leave the house. I started seeing a mental health nurse at the University I was then at and slowly began to gain control of my life. My anxiety never completely went away but I managed to live with it, more or less. I even managed to complete my nurse training and am now a registered adult nurse of just over 1.5 years.
Over the last month or so I've started to feel like my anxiety is relapsing. I've been having panic attacks more often and I have no idea whats set them off. I'm having so much health anxiety and am currently obsessing over having lung cancer as for the past week I have been experiencing this horrible air hunger feeling on and off. As though I can't take a deep enough breath and keep yawning. I just can't seem to rationalise. I'm constantly focusing on my breathing now.
I think work has set this off although I am normally able to cope with the constant exposure to illness.
Sorry about the rant :)

Hello and welcome Yoga*Lover,

I know the the "air hunger" feeling too, like being unable to inflate your lungs completely. Fixating on it only makes in worse, it drove me nuts in November last year. I was also constantly on the verge of hyperventilating because I concentrated on my breathing so much, trying to take deep breaths. Which of course led to lightheadedness, and eventually panic.

I hope you will find the forum as useful as I have. :)
