I do not want to be dependent on a benzo.

I have only found sertraline and flouxetine to be useful. But, as a consequence of the SSRI, I get the smell of Melena (blood from the upper gastro region) and black stools? Can I just ignore the mild bleeding if the level of platelets is in an acceptable range?

Anyone whi has been in this situation?

Note: I live in a small town in India and the doctors are not so up to speed with the latest.

In general, is there any link to a guidelines of what to do if there are smelly and black & tarry stools from an SSRI?
