My latest episode started two weeks ago. I was at the dentist, and the technician mentioned a scar on my gums. The dentist poked around there, since a nearby tooth had been chipped, and didn't mention it.
When I left I checked it, and there was a white bump type thing. Very small (1 mm maybe). I got scared and tried to pick it off, which made it worse!
It swelled up.
Anyway since then the swelling has gone down, but the white bumpish thing remains.
I see my dentist for the chipped tooth next week and will mention it.
Since this came to my mind, I have been checking it constantly. I will shine a light in my mouth, use a mirror, and even take pictures and zoom in. I also check the area with my tongue.
All this has made my anxiety worse! Today it is 2pm and I haven't checked once! Not with my camera, tongue, eyes, nothing!!!
I still get anxious episodes, but I think this is important to maintain.
