Hi,
I first noticed a new freckle on the side of my tummy about six weeks ago.
It's the same colour as all my other freckles, but felt raised.
It's not itchy or anything at all and I showed it to my sister's fiancé, who is a doctor, and he said it's nothing - just a freckle.
I put it out of my mind until earlier when I noticed it again and it seems a little redder around it.
Now, because I have generalised anxiety disorder, I'm panicking like crazy and, stupidly, searching for melanoma symptoms on Google.
If it's just a freckle, I can't understand why it feels a little raised - unless it's just the fat on my tummy?!
I'm going to the doctors tomorrow, but am terrified and am also driving my wife mad with it! :weep:

Freckles can raise a bit sometimes, I have a few that do now and again. I know your fear though, I'm having a current melanoma worry too.

I have a freckle on my tummy and it's raised. I've had it for years. You've nothing to worry about. And mine seems to be a little bit red at times as well. Try to relax, a doctor has looked at it. Freckles comes in all shapes and sizes. And please stop googling. Google will diagnose you with the worst possible case scenario. I can't tell you the number of times dr. google has misdiagnosed me :)
Raised freckles are as common as flat ones!!

Thanks,
But I can't get the melanoma out of my head!
There's no history of cancer in my family, though.
Not seeing the doctor till tomorrow.

I just had that happen, came up overnight too and it was big (relatively speaking 3/16th oval) and dark. Settled in after a week and it's just a freckle. Not worried in the least... never was :)

I'm quite sure all will be well. I have my "Told ya so!" all ready to go ;)

Update: Saw doctor - he said it was def a mole and nothing to worry about as he'd seen thousands.
It hasn't itched at all so far - until this evening.
I stupidly scratched it and a bit of the top seemed to come off?
Is this normal? I don't have any other moles as Im quite dark-skinned and the doctor said darker-skinned people don't tend to have as many as people with fairer skin.
Also, I've got a bad pain in my side and am, again stupidly, worrying it's a cancer spread from what the doctor has said is the mole...
