Hii have ibs c and my doctor told me last week that my folate levels are low so ive been given Folic Acid to take (no im not pregnant) 5mg per day but they have made my ibs worse chronic pain in my right bowel and stomach i went back to the docs and she has told me to take 1 every other day,she hadnt realised that they can cause abdominal cramps,has anyone else suffeted with Folic Acid.......

hi been told i have low folic acid to do you have anemia got to get meds for folic acid what symtoms did you have to get blood test

So sorry i have only just seen your reply.
My doctor told me my vitamin b12 levels were low so i was given folic acid no mention of anaemia,but itold her i was so tired all the time.
I hope you have got sorted out by now,once again i'm sorry x
