I have a real problem with a meeting that I have in London this week.
I have tried to get out of it (I know that is not a good idea), but I am dreading:
1 .The drive
2. The nightmare of parking (I can't contemplate public transport)
3. The meeting being in a room on the 100th floor.

I have been pretty much free of the anxiety for a few years, but they have come back recently with avengance.

I have a real problem with meetings (can rember sitting for hours with my heart in my mouth).

Is this a GAD issue or a Panic issue.

My fear is that I will basically lose control in the meeting by either running out screaming or a bout of obsceneties:shrug:

The Vertigo thing is annoying and causes real problems.
I had a meeting in a five story building that had huge open glass sairwells.
I felt like I would collapse and it took me about 20 minutes to get to the ground floor.

This sounds like a phobia to me, which will probably be connected to GAD if you have it, but is also a problem in it's own right. The usual recommended treatment for phobias is CBT, but I suppose that's not much help to you for this meeting!

Nevertheless, if I were you I'd ask my GP about getting referred for CBT, as it sounds like this is making your working life really hard. I could reassure you that everything will most likely go fine in London; the logical part of your brain is probably telling you that as well, but knowing that and feeling it are two different things! Good luck in any case.

Magpie.
Thank you.
Just now thinking about bed for the night before sleep. I'll be up at 5 (the normal guys are all catching a train and will probably be up at 7) so need a good night sleep.
I must admit, the night before is always uncomfortable.

I wonder if they would mind if I took my dog:winks:

Hi

I think like Magpie said you should ask your doctor about some CBT therapy, also on the day of your meeting take deep breaths, that will help you when you feel panicky and try not to worry.
